Last week me & mini me went for a staycation at Stallmästaregården hotel - as you must have figured out by this point - we just love to go on a staycation! First because it's a great way to experience another neighborhood. I think we just get used to walk/go to the same places, so when you're on a staycation it feels like being a tourist in your own city. Second because nowadays when travel is a complicated subject, a staycation gives you a holiday feeling! What's better than a reaaaally cozy hotel bed and breakfast?

Stallmästaregården is the oldest remaining hotel in the Stockholm area with the same function since the mid-17th century. The farm existed since the 17th century when the first house here was built by Ebbe Håkansson. That building was demolished around 1700 and replaced by a new building which is today the main building of the hotel. Despite many changes, the former farm has retained its typical 18th-century character. The site was mentioned numerous times in the works of August Strindberg (Swedish playwright, novelist, poet, essayist and painter).

A perfect getaway from the city (but still in the city!), the hotel is located just off the Royal Haga Park and Brunnsviken and it's truly an idyll with an urban feeling!

The rooms breathe both history and contemporary design. We slept at the Junior Suite Etage: two levels, on the first floor you find a living room with work area and a sofa set. There is also a bathroom with bathtub and shower products from Orla Kiely on the first floor. Second floor you will find the bedroom with 180 cm wide bed with the brand Hästens and the bedding is made with Egyptian-cotton sheets, a bathroom and other amenities as coffee machine, mini fridge and a wardrobe.

The restaurant which was designed about 2012 in warm copper tones have a long gastronomic heritage with emphasis on traditional kitchen with Swedish flavors.

We had really a good time, drinking some champagne, eating a three course dinner, relaxing at the bathtub and with a delicious breakfast buffet day after.

Here's a few shots from our stay:
